Exporting and backing up account data

The article explains the steps for exporting data from one organization or from all organizations.

Data that will be exported using the export feature:

  • Core and flexible assets in CSV files representing each asset type
  • Documents in HTML format
  • Embedded passwords
  • Attachments

Content that will not be exported using the export feature:

  • All Settings
  • Users
  • Flexible asset templates
  • Related items
  • Revision histories

Prerequisites

  • You must have Administrator access to IT Glue.
  • You can export the same data only once every 48 hours.
  • Passwords will be exported in unencrypted, human-readable format. Be careful with your export files.

Instructions

Exporting an organization

  1. Go to Account > Export Data.

  2. Search for an organization by name, and then click Start Export.

Wait for an email from support@itglue.com to notify you when your export is ready for download. Use the links included in this email to download the exported ZIP file. You can also download it from the Account > Export Data screen.

Exporting everything

  1. Go to Account > Export Data.

  2. Below Export entire account, click Start Export.

Wait for an email from support@itglue.com to notify you when your export is ready for download. Use the links included in this email to download the exported ZIP file. You can also download it from the Account > Export Data screen.

Processing an export may take a while, so please be patient. We'll email you when it's ready.

 

Note

  • If your goal is to do some analyzing or sharing of your data, you also have the option to export smaller subsets of data. See the Exporting a list of assets article for instructions.
